WATERFORD — Wolf Creek Local Schools Board of Education discussed cafeteria prices, athletic season pass prices and updating Waterford Elementary’s gym floor at Monday’s school board meeting.

Board Member Matt Hansell was not present at this meeting.

One item on the agenda was voting on the fees for breakfast and lunch for elementary school and high school students. The proposed breakfast price for regular students was $1.25 and the reduced was $0.30. For lunch, elementary school students was $2.25 and reduced was $0.40 while high school students was $2.50 for regular and $0.40 for reduced.

“The breakfast price did go up by a quarter. It was a dollar, but we upped it by a quarter because the expense is there,” Treasurer Rachel Miller said.

Miller said the lunch prices would remain the same since the district had a positive account balance.

The same agenda item included prices for athletic season passes. Family was proposed as $250, students and senior citizens as $75 and adults as $100.

“We raised the family passes by $50. We had some expenses coming our way. They have expenses like umpires,” Miller said.

“Just so you know, we’re still lower by $50 from Warren and Marietta. For example, Warren’s family pass is $350 and Marietta’s is $300. So we’re trying to be lower than everybody else,” Superintendent Doug Baldwin said.

The board passed both items unanimously.

Baldwin also announced the gym floor at Waterford Elementary would be sanded and replaced with a new logo. Suellen Coleman, Waterford High School principal, brought the markup design to the board.

“It’s been 20 years (since the gym opened in 2003). It’s routine maintenance on the gym floor,” Baldwin said.

The next board meeting will take place on Aug. 21 at 6:30 a.m. at the Waterford Elementary cafeteria. It’s the annual staff breakfast on the opening day of school.
