BATTLE CREEK — Summer is officially coming to an end in the Cereal City with several recreational facilities slated to close for the season on Tuesday.

Flash Flood Water Park will open throughout the Labor Day holiday weekend and will welcome community members for its last day of the season on Monday, with hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The water park will still host the 2023 Puppy Plunge on Sept. 9. Visit recreation.bcparks.org to register.

Full Blast Recreation Center, meanwhile, will be closed Thursday through Monday for gym floor refinishing and the Labor Day holiday. Upon reopening on Tuesday, winter hourswill be in effect, as follows: 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Claude Evans Park splash pad will shut down for the season following the Labor Day weekend, and will return for neighbors to enjoy by Memorial Day of next year. The Willard Beach swimming area will also close for the season after the Labor Day weekend, returning by Memorial Day of next year.

Vehicle access will continue at Willard Beach through October before shutting down, reopening by next April. Pedestrian access will continue through the fall and winter season.

The water feature at Wave Square will still run through the month of September and then be shut down, returning by next year’s Memorial Day.

All city administrative offices will be closed Monday in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. will resume on Tuesday.

Battle Creek Transit buses and vans will not run on Monday and will resume regular schedules Tuesday. Republic Services will also be closed on Monday, resulting in all garbage, recycling and yard waste curbside pickup being delayed by one day next week.
